Linear and Circular Splicing Systems

چکیده
We consider closure properties of classes of languages under the operation of iterated splicing. The main result is that full abstract families of languages are closed under splicing using a regular set of splicing rules. We have the same result for families of circular strings, with two extra assumptions: the languages in the abstract family must be closed under cyclic permutations and the splicing scheme must be reeexive. In both cases the hypotheses are satissed by the families of regular languages and of context free languages.

On the Power of Circular Splicing Systems and DNA Computability
From a biological motivation of interactions between linear and circular DNA sequences, we propose a new type of splicing models called circular H systems and show that they have the same computational power as Turing machines. It is also shown that there e ectively exists a universal circular H system which can simulate any circular H system with the same terminal alphabet, which strongly sugg...

In 1987 Head introduced a new operation on strings, called splicing, as a formal model of certain cut and paste biochemical transformation processes of an initial collection of DNA strands under the simultaneous influence of enzymes [11]. Two strands of DNA are cut at specified substrings (sites) by restriction enzymes that recognize a pattern inside the molecule and then the fragments are past...
متن کاملCircular ribozymes generated in Escherichia coli using group I self-splicing permuted intron-exon sequences.
A circularly permuted self-splicing group I intron from Anabaena was used to generate covalently closed circular trans-acting ribozymes in Escherichia coli. The RNA component of Bacillus subtilis RNaseP and an artificial trans-acting hepatitis delta virus ribozyme were expressed as the exon portion of the permuted intron. RNA isolated from these cells contained circular forms of the ribozymes, ...
متن کاملDynamic ASXL1 Exon Skipping and Alternative Circular Splicing in Single Human Cells
Circular RNAs comprise a poorly understood new class of noncoding RNA. In this study, we used a combination of targeted deletion, high-resolution splicing detection, and single-cell sequencing to deeply probe ASXL1 circular splicing. We found that efficient circular splicing required the canonical transcriptional start site and inverted AluSx elements. Sequencing-based interrogation of isoforms...
متن کاملCircular RNA: features, functions and their correlation with diseases especially cancer
In early 2012, the world of science saw a fascinating discovery called circular RNA as a transcription product of thousands of genes in mice and humans. These circular RNAs have recently been grouped as the encoding RNA in an independent group that their remarkable difference with other RNAs is that these RNAs are not linear, in which two ends connect with a covalent connection creating a loop-...
